The Stations of the Cross

My son's religion teacher taught me a beautiful lesson about the Stations of the Cross. The teacher asked the children to look through newspapers and magazines for pictures that reminded them of the Stations of the Cross.

She then cut them out and pasted them to poster board. On a Friday evening all the families were invited to our Religious Education Center. The Stations of the Cross were hung on the wall around the room. As we gathered in front of each one; a child would explain why she or he had picked that photo and why it reminded her or him of Jesus carrying his cross.

The most moving photograph for me was a one of a small child obviously dying from starvation. The starving child was on the ground and the youngster who had selected this photo said, "It reminded me of when Jesus fell down and couldn't get up."
